Default SAFCII & APEXi ECU = Headache.....

I spent today wiring my Apexi SAFCII into my ECU and made double sure and triple sure that i connected it all the wires correctly.

I also soldered the wires as the poxy connectors that they want you to use to ensure a good connection were very poor.

Anyway when i had connected it all together, taped it up up and re-connected the battery nothing happened.

It doesnt even light up.......should it at least light up with the ignition on if there is a fault elsewhere ???

Now i have two problems at the moment.......

1. I dont currently have an engine under the bonnet.

2. My 2nd hand APEXi ECU i have not seen working.

or maybe even

3. The SAFC II (new) is faulty.

My question is ....would the ecu and SAFC work without an engine in place ?

Would a faulty ecu prevent the safc from functioning?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
Chris.

Why would you want an S-AFC and a Power FC ?

Depending on the model, the ECU usually earths via the engine.

The S-AFC is a knock sensor also isnt it, so i guess i was using it as another point to monitor the Knock ... you nkow belt and braces.

I hoped that they would work side by side and not cause any conflict.

Thanks
Chris.

It will not be an issue if the S-AFC is left unaltered. The PFC will also display knock on the commander and flash the CEL at a user defined level.

If you connect the engine loom earth your units should come to life

You say you have an Apexi ECU ? I assume this is a PFC ie Power FC ?
Did you mean the FC Commander handset ?
