Boost on standard WRX 1996 engine.
Hi, on a virtually standard WRX 1996 jap import (full exhaust system and blitz cone filter), what should the car be running standard boost, and what is the safe limit to run it after fitting either an EBC or bleed valve? I'm in the process of installing a boost gauge and plan to up the boost if possible.
I checked the search facility but kept seeing different answers? Is there a definitive answer?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I only know it on old money....
Standard for the Z4 is around 0.89 bar, you "should" be able to increase it safely to 1.0 bar with a MBC if you are using V-Power or Tescos Super.... However, the ignition advance for the Z4 is supposed to be quite aggressive so it's worth getting a knocklink to monitor for det.

Thanks for the replies, after a further search I see people recommend products from here -
GBE - GB Enterprises
The GB EVO. Is this a cost effective improvement of a bleed valve? Should this allow me to up the boost without any damaging spikes?
Thanks!

Can't go wrong with one of these:
Hybrid Boost Controller
I have one that I ran for around a year before getting a remap. Good bit of kit, very reliable (basically set it and forget about it) and very consistant.

Get a hold of a Scott Taylor ECU chip.
It's mapped for UK fuel and has all the ignition / fueling all correct for running higher boost.
I've got one fitted to my '94 WRX ra and should boosts to 16.5 psi. Mine actually hit's about 18psi and can trip the fuel cut, but this is down to also having a full decat and STi 4 intercooler fitted. So I'll add a dawes device to hold it back a little.
