Default 98 STi Warning Indicator

Hi guys,

What a brilliant forum.

I tried searching everwhere for an answer to this. When I turn the ignition all the usual dashboard indicators come on and then go off. However, after driving about 1 mile an indicator comes back on. It doesn't matter if I drive hard or normal. I'll try to describe it: Red, a box with a pipe at both ends and 4 "S" looking characters rising up from the box. I know it's probably temperature related but the engine temp gauge is normal and everthing else is ok. Checked all the usual things like coolant, oil etc. Somebody mentioned it could be a faulty sensor. Any ideas??

My car is a 1998 Japanese import - STi Type R, which comes with Centre Diff Lock switch.

Any ideas ??
