Default another overboosting thread!!

my car went up to 1.45 boost today i turned the boost controller off thinking iti was that causing the problem, normally when i do this i get 0.5 bar boost(just actuator), but no it looked like it was going to stop at 0.5 then suddenly spiked right up again!!!

am i right in assuming my waste gate's not opening or something?

i've cleaned the solenoid and will try the car tomorrow, but as mentioned if the boost controller it off the solenoid will be shut and i should only get actuator pressure, any ideas before i go and spend ££££'s having someone look at it?

I'm in the same boat. I'm totally sick of having an overboost problem. I really can't think of anything that it can be! It' really putting a downer on owning an Impreza!

Going to book it in at AS Performance so Alyn can have a look at it!

the thing is when i got the car on the dyno knock was detected at 1.2 bar, so anything over that is very bad for me, i even thought of gettgin rid of the boost controller, but as mentioned the problem is still there!
looks like a trip to TDI tomorrow and my FMIC money going to them to get the car sorted!!

good news i bypassed the boost control solenoid by joining the pipe directly from compressor to wastegate, constant .041 bar, so its the solenoid thats staying open, and of course this would happen if the boost controller was on or off, phew! so i'm looking at wiring the boost controller to my 3 port boost solenoid and just putting resistor in place for the car's ecu to prevent CEL, has anyone done this?
i assume the standard 3 port will work better than the 2 port that came with the blitz boost controller anyway.

ok plumbed in the old 3 port and getting 0.9, so a bit better and probably more economical than driving at 1.2, so its off to look for what resistor to put in place of the old one so i can wire the 3 port to the boost controller!
anyone know of hand so i dont have to search?(lazy i know but hey!)

I've just fitted my Dawes device and it has totally stopped the spiking!

However, at higher boost pressures there is a little creep. I think this must be an air leak from the Dawes to the actuator and therefore the actuator is not opening enought o vent the excess boost. Will have another look when I can. Think it's just a case of tightening the hose connections!
