Default Throttle Position Sensor - Sources?

Hi,

I need a new TPS and am struggling to find one other that direct from Subaru. Does anyone know where i can get one other than phoning around the breakers for a 2nd hand one? tried local factors and LSuk.

Cheers

It is behind the coil on the right hand side of the throttle body. Its right on the side of the throttle body directly opposite the throttle cable linkage, looks like theres another sensor on the right hand manifold that you have to remove to get to it. I dont have a slanted intercooler its the straight one.

Hope thats enough info?

I had ordered a 2nd hand one off ebay to try out but it appears to have got lost in the post. So just trying to find where to get one if it doesnt arrive this week...

95 and 98 TPS are different in 2 ways:
1. Different sense, 95 goes from high to low voltage as the throttle opens, 98 goes from low to high.
2. 95 has a closed position switch, 98 doesn't.

Ah ha. Why's it so hard to find parts lol!!

Thanks for the heads up AndrewC. Do you know if cleaning the sensor will make any odds, its an intermittent problem. Sometimes it hangs onto the revs between changes, boost solenoid is tapping on tickover and i got a code 31 on the CEL until i reset it. Other times it works fine but theres no pattern at all.

Have you cleaned the idle valve? IMHO that is more troublesome than the idle valve and can cause the symptoms you describe.

Soobyteknix in Fleetwood should have a 97/98 TPS if you need one.

It's the funny shaped metal thing with a mucky grey/brown plastic top, bolted to the back of the manifold just next to the throttlebody. Unplug it and remove it completely from the manifold via 2 horizontal bolts down the back, don't undo the screws on the top as you can upset the idle still further and risk damaging the solenoid if you pull the cap off.
