Default New age exhaust on a classic ?

Just wondering if a new age exhaust, cat back from a MY02, would fit my STi V5 ?
Thinking of buying one to replace my full 3" H+S system for future MOT's so not intending to keep it on for more than a day at a time.
Cheers, Jon.

Cheers Rich, I had an idea that there was one hanger which was different on the new age but do you know if it would be OK once removed and if so will the DP and centre sections fit OK ?

The exhaust runs are also different. AFAIK:

Classic = downpipe, centre section, backbox.

Newage = downpipe, cat pipe, centre section, backbox.

Note that the newage centre section is several inches shorter than the equivalent on the classic, and so is the downpipe, because of the addition of the cat pipe.

In theory you could replace EVERYTHING, or the backbox alone (but only if you cut off the centre hanger of the backbox and swap it over), but what you are suggesting will not work - AFAIK.

Im pretty sure the downpipe is shorter on newage so the centre pipe will be longer than that on a classic.

Thanks for the reply's
I would need to change the whole system as I'm currently running a full 3" turbo back.
I see what you mean M about the run being different especialy with the extra cat pipe.
It's just difficult to find an classic OEM full exhaust in good cond but there seems to be plenty of cheap new age ones about.

Cheers Martin, I wish I could get away with fitting just the centre however my DP is 3" at the flange and so won't fit a standard centre.
Only way is to change the whole lot !
