Hi
I converted my standard recirc dump valve to vta and now the car seems to want to stall all the time , is this because of the dump valve or something else ???
It vents ok and have no problems there just seems to want to stall
cheers

Have exactly the same problem since fitting my atmospheric valve. I think its due to the car running lean when coming to a stop on tickover. When the engine continues running I notice a very strong smell of egg from the cat. The engine management system corrects this lean mixture by adding more fuel to prevent the stall. Therefore the strong egg smell from the richer mixture. Not 100% sure though.
Had the same on my 93 wrx when i bought it it had a vta and was fine but when giving it the beans in 1st, 2nd and even 3rd when stopping quickly (using brakes) wanted to stall (and did which was irritating and dangerous)changed to a standard recirc sorted the problem out

To combat this problem ,and if you still want the Wooooosssshhhhh sound of a vta dump valve you need to install a TWIN PISTON type dump valve, this will stop any air leaking out when your off boost and the revs at idle will be perfect just like you are using the standard recirculating dump valve. a commonly used dump valve for the impreza is a bailey DV26 twin piston which will give an excellent whooooooossssshhhh sound and no stalling problems at all...
regards
Jim
