Tow bar

Tow bar
Apoogies for another tow bar thread but......
I'm having one (detachable) fitted next week to my MY00. The supplier tells me that Brink make the Subaru one so I intend to go for this one. I'll check with the Main Dealer first becuase they want £450 fitted - sounds a bit steep to me.
They say that it won't fit a WRX. Can't think why unless it is because of the larger exhaust outlet. I have a Prodrive box and having done a search on here it seems that there might be some clearance issues.
Anyone know whether Brink are really the Subaru suplier or have experience of clearance issues?
Cheers

Mine is a MY00 so will accept any Classic shape towbar.
Looking at the link that has popped up with this posting Witter don't do a detachable bar for the classic and the Bosal needs bumper removal and a cut.
That leaves the Brink (presumably the Subaru fitment) for £220 to £230 on-line with a suggested fitting time of 30 minutes.

They are not difficult to fit.. you can force it past the bumper / backbox but you might find it easier to remove the backbox.. clearance issues on mine I have sorted with two different exhausts.. one I tightened the rubber mounts with cable ties (it was the sideways movement that caused interference, so crossed over cable ties sorted it) and the current one I put a small piece of fuel hose on the end of the bolt that holds the tow bar on that the backbox hit.. so it hit the fuel hose as a cushion. I think imports are just not listed and the manufactures of the towbars haven't tested they fit so just blanket claim they don't fit.. but chassis is the same.. so they will fit.

Well, finally got one fitted. Went for the Subaru one as they were doing an offer on the electrics and were only a little more expensive than the tow-bar places.
I can confirm that the Subaru is definitely a BOSAL!!!
I've had a few problems with the trailer but I'm surprised at how poorly the electrical plug fits in to the socket on the tow-bar. I can see how the cap is supposed to come down and lock it in place but the fit is so loose that the plug just drops down a tiny bit and the connection is lost. The only fix I can see is to use tape or a zip tie to hold it all together.
Is this normal????
