Oil cooler position?

Oil cooler position?
Just wondering if it matters what position/angle the cooler should sit, my reason being that currently mine sits to the passenger side of the rad with hoooj great long lines feeing into the top, I want to rotate it 90deg so the lines feed into the side & fit it to the other side to keep the lines as short as poss.
