Question '05 Impreza STI "import" - is this a good price?

Hello there,

My local (non-Subaru) dealership has a 05 plate STI with 31k miles going for £15,999. It DOES NOT say "Type UK" anywhere on it and it was originally imported by Motorpoint of Derby. I wondered if this will have the type-UK engine or be a JDM 300BHP one and how to tell the difference easily?

Wondering if you think this is a good price, and what are the main pitfalls I might encounter buying / owning an import.

Any advice appreciated!
Steve.

It's a euro import, identical to uk spec except that the following items would not have been on the car at new, but motorpoint might have fitted them:
cat 1 alarm
tracker
locking wheel nuts
If you decide to go for this, check out the remaining warranty, there were some issues with this in the past and you might find that the 3 years pan european warranty runs from when motorpoint bought the car, not from when the 'first' owner bought it from motorpoint
Easy way to tell a jap import is that they have a rear screen wiper.

It sounds a bit expensive to me. I've got a 8500 mile, 06 plate Motorpoint supplied Sti with tracker, cat1 alarm and 2 years 3 months warranty left that you could have for not much more than that.

276 bhp to be precise. But most dyno higher apparently, by some Japanese gentlemans agreement (same reason the Skyline 'only' has 276bhp with 2.6l & 2 turbos).
