Default sidelights won't go off

and it isn't the switch on top of the steering column

MY00 uk classic turbo

they come on when the ignition is on, and stay on.. have checked and double checked that i haven't accidentally left 'that' switch on....
and,yes i have checked the stalk is turned to off

when i do turn the sides on they do appear slightly brighter...

brake lights and all other lights work fine

just i can't get the sides off , unless the ignition is off , , , the back ones also come on

i did re-wire my spoiler brake light last week , just wondering if i've shorted anything, although it was only the brakelight i pratted about with

i only use the car once or twice a month and don't really know when this started happening

any ideas ?

daz

Disconnect the Spoiler wiring - that might narrow it down a bit.
If that dont work, then pull the fuse for the sidelights, and if they stay on,
then they are being powered from another circuit.

weird,,lol..

just went out there and took this advice

turned ignition on and lights stayed off , , , started car, drove out of garage, turned lights on and off a few times, pumped brake pedal a few times,
turned the 1 on steering column on off a few times

turned them all off, left engine running and wo and behold lights have still stayed off

strange , must be a bad earth somewhere
i'll wait till happens again to check

cheers all

it's fixed itself martyn lol

i only noticed it when i saw the light on near my turbo timer, cuz i fitted it where the ash tray was . . i thought i must have my lights on, but i didn't.

actually thinking about it,, didn't the car come to you with the WHITE boot lid on ?
i did have my black 'drag racing' boot on prior to that, no brake light, well, no spoiler............ full stop
