MY03 WRX Bonnet latch problem
On two occasions recently my bonnet has decided to open onto the latch whist i was driving at speed. To say this was disconcerting is an understatement. I closed the bonnet and carried on.
Tonight i went out to check my fluid levels, and on trying to shut the bonnet, it is now not locking properly at all. Although it looks shut, the slightest pull on the bonnet releases it onto the latch.
I am booked into RCMS on Monday but is there anything i can check before?
Just looking at the latch and obviously to me it looks ok but i cannot see why it wont lock my bonnet down.
Any ideas please? Ta.
Having your bonnet open onto the latch at 70 is bloody scary, i would hate to think what would happen if it ever got past that safety latch.
PS, how do you properly close a bonnet? Let it rest on the first latch then push it home, or hold it say 6" above and let the bonnet drop and lock itself? Does it matter?

Bonnet latch
Had a similar problem with my 01 bugeye, just need to adjust it up slightly, remove the grill and theres 3 bolts. I would advise droping it from about 6", I dented my bonnet when i had this problem trying to shut it. Hope this helps.

Thanks
I had a mini brainwave whilst at work last night, and it appears that whatever releases it had stuck open and so the bonnet would not lock when dropped. It still needs sorting properly but it is locked for now.
Will let RCMS sort me out whilst there on Monday.

Will take a better looksee then, i could not really see where it was attached to, although i saw the small spring for it, and the monster spring for the actual lock.
So i just technically prodded (lol) the lock, something must have moved as the bonnet locked this time.
the thing is, i really dont need it opening on me at high speeds again.
