Default Exhaust pop

I've a 98R WR Sport running on tesco 99 RON.

Tell me, what are the best conditions to get 'pops' out the back coming down the gears?

Being incredibly mature I like it (prefer flames, of course). So, what;s the next (cheap!) step?

Decat exhaust system and a dump valve will make it pop and bang

My GGR sport cat and exhaust and forge dump valve make my scoob pop and bang like mad when everything's hot. Think it's the unburned fuel igniting somewhere along the pipe. Was not intentional and don't know whether it does the car any good
