Default do i have a close ratio box????? newbie

hi all, just bought a wrx import and the gearing seems very short, i have blistering acceleration but in 5th gear i am doing 110 at 6000 rpm or about that, at 70 i am doing about 4000 rpm, its not the jap limiter stopping me going any faster just running out of revs! i bet i cant top 120 mph

I would have thought a car with 250 hp at 80 would be just doing 3500 rpm?

i know a mate who has had 150 out of his import wrx!

mine is not the ra version, would gearbox code help? could get it!

and by the way all these speeds have been done at the nurburgring!!!!!

yes the ring is awesome, i bought the scooby for the ring as i usualy take the mr2 turbo, BUT having just found out that i have the RA gearbox in the car getting there will be slow at 70 mph as to do 90 all the way there will take its toll on the wallet and not so good for the engine at 5750 rpm on a 1200 mile trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So should i sell it or swap the gearbox for a standard wrx to improve my motorway cruising speed?????

Shame as the acceleration is just mindblowing and would make a great track car

realy dont know what to do

My ra does about 123 flat out with the shift light on in 5th @ 6500 revs.

Leave the the box in it's one of the best things about the car, a good box makes all the difference, I would never swop mine out even if it can be a pain on long runs.

All done at the ring of course.
