Default Cleaning boost solinoid

Hi to all,
I know its a popular question but I'd like to clear something up if I could.
My car was surging when I'm trying to overtake.
I read the threads and I've cleaned the boost solinoid out (i think).

I found a picture on here but it didn't look quite the same.
The item on MY99 uk car had had two pipes (one bent and one straight).
I disconected these pipes, plugged the two green plugs together and sprayed brake cleaner into the outlets.
Firstly the boost solinoid seemed to be pulsing - is that correct?? and secondly - its quite difficult to get the spray through the solinoid? It does run through it and it was a little black but the fluid seems to want to run out of the hole into which it went in...

Can someone tell me if i've got the right device and i'm doing it right. Also - does it sound blocked or are they all a little fiddly to get fluid round?

Cheers to all.

Richard

Hi - thanks for the reply.
I've tried spraying in both pipes and more seems to spray back out then actually gets through - although a good bit does get through.

there is some more apparatus on the same bracket on the strut top. Do I need to do anything with that?

Also - I can blow down both the pipes that where connected and i can hear air hissing out somewhere... Is that normal?

cheers
Richard

Sounds like you have got the right thing, make sure you get all the dirt out. One of the pipes will go to the inlet pipe and the other to a t piece by the turbo and intercooler. If you can blow through them they aren't obstructed but it's probably worth spraying them with brake cleaner too. Connect them all back up and give it a try. Don't forget to disconnect the test mode connectors first.

Cheers folks
I put it all back together and it ran much better - however it still seems to surge a little but only when its cold??

Maybe I'll do it again next weekend to make double sure.

Cheers

Would be worth your while to take the small pipe off which connects to the turbo compressor housing. This has a small restrictor in it check it isn't fouled.
