Unhappy HELP !!!!

Hi to all,
I have managed to get myself a mint and very fast 04 WR1,but I have two problems with it and hope I may get some help from some one out there.

(1)

The car has got what I first thought to be a duff spark plug, but know think it my be a little more serious,

It seems that when you are in higher gears and under hard acceleration as though the hole ignition is switched off then on again for half a second which then causes the engine management light to come on,it also gives the car quite a jerk, it still drives perfectly with this light on, and after the car is left for a period of time i.e. over night the light has reset its self and has gone out.

You can be in top gear at 80 (ish) accelerate fairly lightly and it dose the same.

Now onto problem (2)

As I said the car is mint, this is due to it only having covered 2000miles from new, as it has been in storage, thus it has not been serviced at all, and after contacting Subaru UK direct I have found this car to have no warranty what so ever with them, and is void, even though it has not been used!

So dose anybody have any ideas what the fault may be, or am I looking at putting it into a dealership and getting a heavy bill?

Cheers

Andy.

Firstly try arguing the warranty.

You'll probably get nowhere, BUT. Remind the dealer that it'll go into them if it's warrantied, and elsewhere if not. Also, have you approached the seller?

Secondly, with a car worth what that one is, it's NOT worth taking a risk.

Bite the bullet and have it into a dealer/specialist for diagnosis. If you can't afford the bill, for REPAIR, take it off the road until you can, or find somewhere that'll do it cheaper. Especially if warranty is not available.

DON'T risk it going bang though

Default problems

Hello, Problem 1) quite common and probably the a coil pack or the MAF, if you do a search you'll find loads of info on these and how to do some basic checks.

Problem 2) You can check the fault codes yourself by connecting the underdash wires, again theres comprehensive instructions on how to do this and read the codes if you do a quick search.

Have fun!

its an 04, wires under dash are for the earlier classics pre 99 I think. It sounds like it could be overboosting, thus hitting fuel cut and the sudden loss of power. Best bet as suggested though is get it checked out, could be something simple like a missing restrictor in the boost pipework

Exactly. Would you put part worn remoulds on it? Nope, thought not!

I'd not spoil a ship like that for a ha'porth of tar at a dealer either

Any ideas where to take it then, over the last 7 years i did all the work on my last two scoobs myself as i dont have much faith in the dealers either, but those didnt cost as much as this one, with only 2000 thousand miles on the clock i dont want it to go bang.
I live in merseyside.

Just thought i would let you all know that my WR1 is now fixed and fast as hell.
Didnt try and fix it my self,so took it to a dealers, they found the problem in less than 4minutes,but sadly i still had to pay the 68 pound bill !
It was only a vacum pipe that went from the turbo waist gate which had a split in it,it was repaired under a recall of all WR1s so didnt cost a thing, appart from the petrol for two visits to huddersfield.
(dont do many to the gallon these things do they)
So thanks for all your help.

PS.Dose any one know if you can have the back seats converted to fold down so as to get bigger things in the boot.

cheers again to all who tried to help.
