P0171 system too lean (bank 1)??!
Hi all and help if anyone,
P0171 system too lean(bank 1)??!!
Any1 knows what bank 1 means?
Engine light came on day 1 and rest then happening again in day 2!!!
Both read P0171 bank 1.
Since engine light started, the engine idling like it wants to die out every time i stop at a junction.
Used to stay steady at about 700rpm when warm, now always bouncing 500-700 at idle.
No mods recently, but had decat, hks dump and tek 3 remap done 2 yrs ago by BR.
I know ppl says maybe maf or lambda etc...
Any other info/advise??!!
Cheers in advance.
regards Mike

P0171 is fuel trim malfunction (too rich)
Means the front oxy sensor is dead, bit expensive to replace but only a Subaru part will work. Its a pseudo wide band sensor.
best regards

Both sensors measure the oxygen content of the exhaust gas whatever Subaru call them.
The correct Subaru description is "Front oxygen (A/F) sensor" fwiw taken directly from the manual's.
Bank one is drivers side bank two is passenger side.

I think its also worth checking your boost pipes are all secure for gauges etc. I had this code and rough running on a car that had blown the boost pipe off a turbo timer.

Will do a check all over engine this weekend.
'Boost pipe off a turbo time' ...hmmm, never heard of a turbo timer requiring a boost pressure!!!
