Dont have a piccy - and there are several types of 3 port solenoid anyhow.
Can you count the boost pipes connected to it ?
3 would mean a 3 port and 2 would mean... Well, I'm sure you get it....
The 'normal' 2 port has a pipe at one end, and one from the underside....
Hope this helps,
Mark

Newbie question.....
What are the advantages of upgrading the solenoid and when would it be beneficial in tuning terms??
Im about to replace the solenoid with a standard fit coz it's faulty but came across the 3 port and faster acting upgrades.
Is it worth upgrading at this stage with the scope to carry on tuning later down the line??
Impreza classic '99 by the way (standard)

No - is the simple answer - you'd need a remap to allow the ECU to use the 3 port properly - and as the rest of the car is oem, this would be a little pointless.....
The longer answer.....
You could fit a 3 port and configure it as a 2 port - then change it to the 3 port config later, depends on your overall goal -
Do you have a 'tuning plan' in mind ?
If you're thinking of replacing the TD04 turbo that you're currently running and all the necessary changes that would complement that - and running larger boost, then it might be worth it..... (e.g. injectors, remap, fuel pump/regulator, decat , headers, intake mods etc)
The current TD04 will max out before you need to swap to a 3 port.....
Hope this helps -
