Default MAF.

how can u tell if the maf senser has gone i have done the ecu check and all ok.

Did you pull the plug out and did it stay running if yes, then the maf is faulty.

The the maf needs replacing, i paid £215 from the dealers

i mate can i just replace the senser they r about £70 from dealer.

Nope, as the STI 3 is a complete unit with the sensor built in. only the 99 onwards cars can have just the sensor replaced for £70.
The dealer will need the part number from your maf to supply you the correct one as it differs from the uk maf sensor of the year as it is 90mm.

It is worth a try but i dont really think it will make much difference, and ultimately if you leave the maf on you could blow the engine. Its you call mate but personally i would just change the sensor and get back to enjoying the car.

I it is me again i have been out side started my car after standing 4 5 hours pulled the plug of the maf and it cut out so that meens it is ok let the car warm up a bit pulled plug of and it still ran so i tried it again and the car cut out.

Hi been to my local subaru deeler ordered new maf cost £215 pick it up on thursday hope all goes well. ADE.

this way of pulling the connection of the maf to see if its faulty seems abit hit or miss to fair?

I mate tryed the plug car still kept runing so asked about and 99% of subaru owners say it is the maf and spoke to subaru today and they said the maf is duff.

HI fitted my new maf today and all seems fine do i need to reset the ecu.
