Import wrx
My friend has bought himself a white p reg subaru wrx import now there seem to be something wrong here I'll explain
I pop the bonnet and i saw a english engine it had the 4 leads instead of 4 coils packs the intercooler was smaller the engine
was layed out different to mine and it had ABS also the vin num started with GC8 which means import. Also he was told its
running 289bhp standard plus it rev line about 8500 rpm is this right? Im
Now inside the car it has the automatic re-track windows the speed control on the windscreen wipes and a quick shift
gearbox I no the sti and p1 have this but it didn't have the spary for the water for intercooler
Now correct me if Im me wrong but import only have coil pack can anyone help with this.
The reason im asking if i ring subaru and they say vin doesn't match then what engine in there then he new to find
out for parts reason and as he bent his steering rack last night are they all the same.

The 7 digit "applied model" code found on the vehicle identification plate inside the engine bay is decoded in the following way.
Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD
Take a look at this it may help?
