Default Fueling problem HELP

Hi guys hope u can help ive got a 98 uk turbo which i fort id ran out of fuel but i got a can of fuel in boot which id put in to get me to petrol station now car wont fire up just turns over could this be fuel pump as ive been told they are a common fault please help thank u

Pull off the fuel line feed into the fuel filter and (while using a container to catch any petrol) turn the ignition on.
If fuel comes out in a steady stream then chances are its only the fuel filter that's clogged with gunk pulled from the bottom of the tank.
If no fuel then look at the pump & fuse.
