Default Checked ECU codes and...

found two codes flashing, first one was 12-starter switch, and 23-MAF sensor The car is a MY99 Turbo UK, and I have noticed the idle dropping at junctions and then settling back to normal, also a bit of hassitation under accelaration. I did unplug the MAF sensor with the engine running and it stalled almost straight away, never the less I will be ordering a new MAF sensor first thing. Any ideas on the other code, Starter switch?

Cheers
mike

really more worried about the MAF than the other fault, is it possible that the CEL error code for the MAF sensor came up because I dissconnected it to check if it was working?

yes it came up bcause you had it disconnected, historical error code

i would get it changed no matter if it passed the unplug test or not, could also be that your lamda sensor is not ok

the error 12 could also be a historical error code

but start with a new maf and see how its acts up and take it from there

Cheers for that, after fitting the new MAF, should I reset the ECU and then check again for error codes?

Definatly Replace the MAF and i would advise the Lambda as you have poor idle. (And they are relitivley cheap look here - https://www.scoobynet.com/okay-im-confused-t386661.html)

Re-Set the ECU (Leave battery dis-connected for a few ours till your error codes disappear)

Your car will be like a new machine, take it easy when you have re-set the ECU. (your idle may be poor initially but it will get better as the ECU learns)

Thanks for the advice, the new MAF is coming tomorrow, I will see how it runs after the ECU reset.
Thanks again
