Hi, i also own a sti type ra which has only done a genuine 24,000 miles from new (only used as weekend toy imported from new) which has a whine at the back. I recently took it to Bedford autodrome for a sound test due to an exhaust upgrade the chief instructor took me and the car round but informed me that a rear wheel bearing was making a noise i always thought it was the rear diff making a noise as there is no sound proofing etc. anyway have bought 2 new rear wheel bearings will see if this cures
