STi 7 forged pistons in an STi 8?
A mate of mine has recently rebuilt an engine from an 2003 JDM STi 8 which he got cheap because the owner fried it then went to a 2.5 build.
Anyway, he said that he put STi 7 forged pistons in because they can take more boost than the JDM STi 8 pistons. Are the STi 8 ones not forged?
Is this correct or is he having a laugh?

partially yes, they are not forged in the truest sense of the word, but they are stronger than a WRXs pistons. (from what ive been told)

I thought the STI7 and STI8 pistons are forged, the STI9 and the EJ257s have the hypereutectic pisttons

Not WRX pistons, JDM STi 8 pistons.
What are hypereutectic pistons?
...its ok I just found it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypereutectic_piston
Maybe the STi 8 are Hypereutectic pistons hence the change as they can take more boooooost!

For some reason subaru decided to strengthen the crank in the sti8/9 block at the expense of the pistons...(which are hypereutectic), so the sti8/9 blocks have the nitrided crank where the sti7 doesnt, but the sti7 has stronger pistons.....
confused yet? i know i was at the time
Its my understanding that the hyperblah blah pistons arent true forged jobbers....
