Oil weights and their results on oil pressure....
following on from a THREAD ABOUT OIL PRESSURE GAUGES, alot of people were quoting 6 - 7.5 bar at idle cold, 3 bar at idle warm.
now, my pressure is at 6 cold idle and 2 warm idle, but im using a 10w 40 oil, whereas alot o fpeople are running 15w 60 oil.
would this result in the low oil pressure im getting, well, not low but lower than the others are getting.
cheers.........

Fear not.
The pressures you quote for 10/40 are what I see on my 03 STi
10/60 or even worse, 15/60 oils are, in my opinion, far too heavy for ordinary road use. I remember using Castrol RS 10/60 in my 99my and saw around 3bar at idle and over 6bar at anything over 2k rpm
15/60 - would that be Millers? I use Millers CFS 10/40 or 5/40 in winter.

03 WRX, 6 bar at revs when warm or cold, 3 bar or just above at warm idle, 6 bar to 6.5 bar at cold idle.
Thats using Pro R 15w 50 as serviced by RCMS.
Just FYI, i have had my car serviced by 3 places, all specialists, and they all used a 15w 50 oil, so there must be something in it?
I aint sure what like, but i was expecting the usual Pro S 5w 40 or someat TBH.
I will have to phone RCMS and quiz Olly about it, lol.
