Hi mate,i switched from an HKS induction kit to an STi panel filter (running cold air pipe to filter box) and the only thing i noticed was the induction noise has gone so unless it had an dyno test done before and after than im not sure if there is an difference. But i will say the panel filter will help when stuck in traffic alot or when summer comes rounds again .

I'm not making much sense
...but my highly sensitive buttometer seemed to tell me that my old classic RB5 performed better with its std filter rather than the replacement STi
in as much that its overall smoothness and throttle response, altho only slightly, was better with the std paper filter....

Ah, so we agree exactly.
What I said was use a K+N if you want a reusable.
I did various testing on Dyno Dynamics Rolling Road over 2 consecutive half days with four panel filters. The difference from best to worst was 2 bhp and the O/E paper item ranked no.2 on each day.
