Swift Cee

I've just recently replace the ECU in my 93 wrx import. When i get to 120 it cuts out, which happens every time. I know some of the imports are restricted.

My question is...Is it down to the ECU or or there another device which restricts the car, and can i DE-restrict it!!

i get the same problem with MY93 wrx wagon and ive been told that you have to change over from kilometers to mph u can either have a device behind the combi meter or on the gearbox not sure what one is best.

yer it needs deresticting mate look in the bace of a jap mag or on ebay 93 imports are a cable driven type justs plugs in to the back of the clocks very easy to do takes around 45 mins to do and will allso change the clocks from kmh to mph ie 180 kph turns to 180 mph. hope this helps..

112 MPH = 180 KPH

speedo might show 120 MPH depending on wether you have std wheels/tyres fitted or aftermarket ones... if they differ in size slightly then the speedo will be a small precentage out.

D`oh me i went the wrong way on the conversion..... sorry 112mph = 179.2 kph....

odd that the engine cuts out, thought the speed limiter would just stop the car accelerating more...

Well how do you think it would do that??
Cutting the fuel supply is the easiest way to stop you accelerating

ive got a 94 L wrx wagon and guess what it cuts out at 112 mph = 180 kmh , just waiting for the little gadget to arrive and then no more 112 mph . its so anoying being over taken by a fiesta at 114 mph .. .
