stupid oil/coolant question
Hi
2 stupid questions, concerning my WRX Type UK, that has 2k on the clock.
1. The oil level is half way between the high and low marks on the dipstick. this is the case when it is cold, and also if I run it for a mile or so to warm it up. It would have had an oil change at the 1000 mile service (presumbably to fill it up). The manuel says that I should wait until it is near the low mark before adding any oil - is this correct?
2. The coolant level is near the low mark when cold/warm. The manuel says I should add 'subaru coolant or similar' and not to mix different coolants. Anyone know where I can buy subaru coolant (have tried local dealers, still waitng for a call back....), or if it is ok to add a different make of coolant which one is the best?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

The change at 1000miles is probably due to the car having thinner oil for running in. A fairly normal prectice. IMO its best to keep the oil topped up at all times. I wouldnt let it go past the half way mark. No oil=no engine. There would be a fine line between the low mark and not enough.
Not too sure on the second but i wouldnt think that the coolant subaru use would be any different to others. You'll just pay more for it probably. Anyone want to add to this......
