Thumbs down PPP Problems

Posting this for a friend of mine who has bought a brand new scoob from a dealer and got PPP fitted. Has he got any rights to insist they take it off and refund him ?

hi all! i have a 06 but 05 model wrx and i have put the prodrive (ppp) on my car, since subaru put it on the car has not been rite, every few days i don't get any boost! i have brought it back to subaru more than once and when they plug it into there computers no faults show.

Before i got it on my car i asked about using 95 RON and they told me tat the ppp pack will run on 95ron but 98RON is best. Now that i'm having problems there saying i'm only to use 98ron, i rang prodrive in the uk and they said that the car should run great on 95! that the ECU will learn it it's self. so if anyone on here has 04-05wrx with the ppp pack or knows of anyone with this please let me know! my aim now is to get it out of my car and get my money back, this is going on for 5 weeks now and i'm not enjoying subaru life at all!

When he says he has no boost, is that all the time? Reason i ask is Prodrive have a feature which is not incorporated in the OEM map..... the PPP ecu limits boost until a certain coolant temp is reached. He isn't flooring the thing while cold is he?

PPP was the best thing i have done to my car (MY06 WRX).... fantastic!

Regarding the fuel.... Prodrive recomend super unleaded for 'max' performance but it will run on 95. But i'd say if 5p/litre to use super is too much expensive then he has bought the wrong car..... why buy this sort of car and then run it on normal unleaded??????

Hi Tony. Even when its warmed up its not right. Some days it is and others its not. He reckons it was quicker without the PPP.

Its a bit of a headwreaker.

Sorry I should have stated at the start we only have 95 ron petrol over here now. He is running octane booster I think.

95 and booster would be ok then

Does he have a boost gauge on the car, if so what is it peaking at?

Boost is inhibited by air temp sensor input, coolant temp interaction is present in all the rom files of this (and other) Model year but not implemented on some.

Sounds like its very unhappy on 95 ron, it really shouldn't be run on that at all despite what Prodrive or any dealer said unless its custom mapped, car variations are far too great.

Stick to your guns

cheers

He hasent got a boost gauge yet Tony.

Thanks Bob. The dealer he bought the car from first said there is no need for Octane booster and then when it started running bad said he does need to use it. I think it was Subaru Ireland said to use Octane boster and Prodrive said its not recommended to use octane booster. So lots of different opinions and one of them said it could void his warranty if he did use it. So he doesnt know what to do. They seem to think the ECU should learn the 95ron petrol but doesent seem to be.
