Default squeakyrattle type noise!

the old favourite thread, vague question from a cheque book mechanic...getting this type of noise when car is moving from passenger side, am thinking wheel area as it seems in time with the rotational aspect of a round object, obviously can hear it well whilst driving with window down past low wall!!!!! Am I right in thinking something like wheel bearings

I am prepared for no/sarcy replies...

well for all of you interested, apparently it was the break pad indicator pins telling me they are close to wearing out, is this true I have never heard of this before?! I had always assumed (wrongly) that an MY99 UK Impreza would have an electronic indicator.
