Limit on boost standard classic Uk engine

Limit on boost standard classic Uk engine
97UK car with 115K on the clock.
Going for a remap soon and have exhaust, modified turbo and fueling system.
From investigation on here it seems a safe limit for the boost is about 1.2bar for every day driving.
However why is this ? Is it down to the standard TMIC ? or is it down to the engine internals.
Don't really want to break my gearbox either and its a standard 5 speeder.
Obviously I'll take advice from mapper but would like any other thoughts,
Cheers

Anymore than 1.2 bar on a td04 at the top means more hot air and usually less power.
However if you can set boost relative to rpm it could be worth going for more lower down

If it's an Andy F hybrid TD04, IIRC Andy mapped his to 1.5bar. However, this was on a new WRX. The std Td04 seems to be commonly mapped to around 1.25 (from posts on here), but has to be pulled back at the top end as its runs inefficiently.
My MY99 peaks at 1.35 with a VF35 dropping back to 1.2 at the top end I believe. 1.2-1.35 seems like a a common range for folks who've had a remap on their Uk cars. I know of some people who run 1.5 bar (with an appropriate turbo and mapping) on std UK internals without issue though.
Gearbox longevity depends on how the boost is delivered (which is down to the mapper) and your driving style. TBH, if you've got a car with approaching 100k on the clock and you put considerably more power through the box, I guess you can't complain if it breaks! I'm not sure you can really specify a "safe" amount of boost to prevent the gearbox from letting go- some go with std power!

Thanks to all.
Standard TMIC will be used, but going to angle it as threads on here and othermod sites suggest.
Will post when have results.
May drop to 95RON to save gearbox :-)

Just a note to say theres a bit more to boost = power level
1.2 on a 05-20g will make more power than 1.2 on a tdo4 all else being equal
