Well, not totally sure if my car will make it there! lol
It still drives and sounds quite smooth most of the time but you never know :s
Any rough idea much he'd charge for a rebuild?
Cheers

Thanks for that Danny Boy! Will keep them in mind.
Been quoted around 1,600 for a rebuild by AS Performance.
Do you guys think a rebuild is a better option than a decent 2nd hand engine?

rebuild with a warranty will be better than a second hand engine. Problem with 2nd hand engine is you dont know the history of it. A rebuilt engine will be as fresh as a daisy. AS are highly recommended as are API

Yeah, that's what I thought mind. It's just when you get offered a low-mileage one with warranty for half the price, it makes you think for a bit! lol
But no doubt a rebuild will prob be better in the long run.
Thanks

There are a couple of questions you have to ask:
1: Why is the engine out after only doing 30K???
2: Is the mileage correct?
3: if the engine is out of a smashed car, was it was frontal impact, how do you know if the pulleys/ cambelt etc have not been damaged as they are right at the front of the car
4: how long has the engine been lying around
Also bear in mind a rebuild using a new bottom end instead of your old one being reused.
I wouldn't want to pay for a rebuild and use the old bottom end, using a new bigger piston etc. After bits of metal from the broken part and crap had been pumped around the engine by the oil pump.
remember to get a few quotes first and ask what they will be doing regarding the rebuild

The price from AS sounds like a good one and it is a reputable company and as it is local to you I would give them a go.
