Default exhaust noises - please help

my 94 wrx has started making a "popping" noise when I come off the revs to change up/down from 2nd gear (off boost) is this normal cos it don't sound right to me!! the car came with a legalis r exhaust (straight through stainless decatted) and I've noticed that my fuel consumption has gone to dogsh*t, I was wondering if it could be something to do with the battery being off for the cat1 install - has the ecu reset and needs time to learn again? is the timing off and can it be adjusted? or is this just normal? as usual thanks in advance for the help..........

Have u got the standard ecu???what fuel do you run

Mine pops, MY93WRX. but thats due to the dump valve.

full de-cat will probably pop anyway but usually due to running rich.

Im fairly certain ecu is standard but car was only imported last year so can't say for sure. fuel is super unleaded ONLY usually optimax but have also tried sainsbury and tesco - depends where I am when I'm running out!!

check the standard things, but i would say popping is normal, mine does it due to my de-cat and VTA. if you have such mods and remap then it should not due this anymore.

mine is doing it more at the mo when changing gear cus of the heat i think
