Of getting my heads ported polished and gasflowed??

Iv got a version 1 sti num59/200 which has unfortuantly sufferd from head gasket faliure due to a split rad, i was thinking seeing as the engine has to come out of the car and the heads off to change the gaskets and get them skimmed would it be worth getting them ported, polished and flowed, what would be the benifits?
