When was ECUTEK introduced on the Impreza?
Hi All
I am currently looking for a classic Impreza and I want it with the ECUTEK ECU. Looking at Powerstation's website it says MY99+ are ECUTEK. I have seen an S reg 1998 car but it has the 4 pots, latest front bumper and Subaru CAT1 alarm. Is this 1998 car a 99 model year with the ECUTEK? Help appreciated.

It's my99 on (version 5). Think the first Ecu with Ecutek was the AE801.
It is possible it could be a my99 registered on an S plate, the easiest way to tell would be to look under the bonnet, the 99/version 5 were the first model to have the dump valve mounted/bolted to the front of the intercooler.

Apologies for my confusion. Are these AExxx codes the chassis codes or codes on the ECU i.e. Do I have to uncover the ECU to find out? Is the ECU under the passenger footwell?
