What Oil
Having recently picked up my 52 plate STi i'm just wondering what Oil is best to put when i do the change soon.
Also is there a specific oil filter to be using or just one from subaru???
I've seen many oil's out there but wondering which one is best, are there any recommendations
obviously within reason and one that can be obtained from an autoparts place etc??
Many Thanks
Ben
ps running @ standard too if that makes a difference

Scooby Regular
For general road use on an unmodified or lightly modified car I'd recommend a 5W40. If you drive hard regularly or track, or mileage is getting up (70k+) then a 10W50. If you are running very high power (350bhp+) and regularly track/sprint then a 15W50 or 60.
As for brands, Silkolene ProS, Millers CFS or Motul 300V are all outstanding fully synthetic oils. Always use a genuine Subaru filter.

Oil for classic unmodified
I've been a boring Mobil1 supporter for years, but the Scooby turned it black in 1000 miles! Should I use a semi-synthetic or ...? Any suggestion welcome (well, almost):

Oil for classic...
I've just done my second oil change to my MY00 classic, 40K miles and used Valvolene 0W40 again. Good stuff, no problems at all. I'll probably use 5W40 next time as the 0W40 is quite a bit more expensive- but I had over a litre left over from the last change and didn't want to chuck it away!
As for types etc, good quality fully synthetic seems to be the way to go.
