Hi All ,

I have just had a friend plug in a 'generic' japanese diagnositc kit into my 2001 'Y' Impreza 2.0 GX.

It displayed the following readout "Idle Control Valve Failsafe".

Does this readout indicate anything to you (obviously it would indicate a problem with the ICV but I don't want to spend out on one just to find this isn't the cause of the problem?)

So would a subaru specific diagnostics pin-point more accuatly the exact cause of this problem?

Also are there any other checks i can carry out to determine the likely cause of the CEL light on the dash, which comes on after approx 2 miles driving and stays on.
