Safe boost on a V5 STI TYPE R
On a MY99 V5 STI TYPE R what is the maximum safe boost level. Car is running full 3" exhaust turbo back, bigger uppipe, K&N panel filter and 255l/ph Walbro fuel pump. It has recently been remapped via ECUTEK TEK 3 by a reputable well known mapper to max boost 1.35 bar. The difference in performance is barely noticeable after the remap ??
He suggested the boost could be increased to 1.45 bar through the mid range if I so desired. Would this be a sensible move or not. Would that be too much boost for stock internals. I dont want to risk an expensive rebuild. Thank You

Be careful.
The compressor on the vf2x series turbos are fragile and can break up over 1.35 bar, hence why it was probably set at that level.
I would recommend some ported headers (do your own or Harvey Smith will supply on exchange basis). This will improve airflow at the same boost level thus giving more power/torque without having to increase boost. A remap will be required to get the most out them though.
