Hi can you tell if the pressure valve in the water pump has gone without taking it off?

Once lifted water leaks out the pump through the pressure relief hole, can't be re-set , new pump required , cam belt off job . Trust me you will see the water on the floor slow but sure drip , once pump off you can fill with water and see it drip from the hole , can't see the hole when on car .
