Default increase CC on a standard engine..

hi
how can you increase the CC of a standard 2.0 turbo.. or what is the max it can be overbored to? im thinking a longer stroke will increase capacity but am interested how much the cylinders can be overbored....do people do kits for things like this. or shall i just get a 2.5 bottomend?

cheers

Rich

For a road car it's far far easier to swap the bottem end for a 2.5 and revel in the extra torque you gain

Max overbore I would go, would be 1mm, that gives 2.036lt, and if you use the 79mm crank to stroke it, you'll get 2.145lt. Start with a 2.0lt closed deck block, and you'd have a very strong capable engine.

A 2.5lt short engine will be much cheaper to start with, but the pistons can be fragile, and if you wanted to push it, it would be worth fitting forged pistons.

From a "drivability" point of view, it's hard to beat the torque the 2.5lt can produce, and from very low down.

With the right set up, either engine can make well over 450bhp, and will also need a very strong clutch, and up rated gear kit.

Mark.
