I reckon about 240ish as well.
Would forget about the fmic, you can do much more before benefitting from one. Maybe a scoobyecu or power fc fitted and mapped. Standard top mount ic will be good for 300bhp anyway and you are a bit away from that. Also with the new ecu your fuelling will be optimized and higher boost pressure can be run

Definately get some sort of new map, not wise to up the boost without a remap. If you are planning on making lots more mods get a power FC fitted and mapped, quite expensive at about 700-900 fitted and mapped but the only way to ensure you can remap after new mods.

If you going to stop modding for a little while get a scoobyecu or ESL chip, these will give you 1 bar boost (15 PSI) and take advantage of your exhaust and other mods. Should give you about 275BHP. Make sure you get the map for a wagon and not a saloon though as the turbo's are different (wagon runs TD04, saloon TD05). These chips should cost no more than £200 all in and are plug and play, though they cannot easily be remapped.

Someone correct me incase im wrong, but i didnt think the early ecu's were remappable (certainly not a 94)..

Maybe he can replace the one you have got for that sort of money ...... ive got a 93wrx, with a 94 RA engine, and i got a remapped ecu from a local motorsport garage which they used on their rally car....(my new ecu is from a later model) ...they charged me £150 for it.... its remapped to 300bhp, peak boost at 1.5 bar, holds 1.1bar, and Uk fuel.

Im not aware that you can remap a 94....from std.

I would say about 210-220 bhp, and as said above, possible over fuelling.

who is this derve doctor? sounds funny that no one has ever mentioned him before. Just be careful that the chip does everything it says on the tin

Sounds like an oil burning tuner who fits those cheap resistors to Golf TDI's. Forget a piggy backed ecu, buy a proper chip of someone like Scott Taylor or TSL. You need to buy from someone who knows what there talking about not some bloke who "can chip owt with an ecu"

To be fair if you already have your mind made up about this chip why ask everyone's opinion here and then make a public display of doing the opposite of their advice.

The best plug and play engine maps for pre '96 cars are scott T's scoobyecu's, they dont light the check engine lights and run a derivative of a native impreza map.
The ESL chips appear to be near identical to these ( I run one) though they are yet to be proofed over time like the scoobyecu's.

If the chips all your racing friends are running with are so good then why is the supplier not on scoobynet or well known and making money from them? If they were so good I would be.

At the end of the day its your cash and your car, this place is for advice from those who have been through it before, but what you do at the end of the day is up to you.

I have had work done by the derv doctor on my previous modded 306 HDi. He remapped that (£300) and afterwards it was pouring smoke out. Asked him to revert it back to standard as I wasnt happy and he wanted another £300 .

I know other lads throu another forum that have had work done and he has damaged their cars.. Blown ecu comes to mind!!

He deals in the field of diesel cars and diesel tuning and has built a 306 1.9DT with nitrious/water injection running just short of 200bhp but the heat was warping the exhaust manifold. Last time I heard of him, his chips, maps what ever you want to call them were collins powerchips. He can not do a proper custom map or a 'live' map.

Go somewhere and get someone thats knows a Subaru to do it for you.

No one else feels the need to shout.

Caps lock....use it

I sometimes wonder why i bother giving advise did i or anyone else say one of those **** things of ebay? no

We/I offer advise and all you do is slate it. Take this how you like....you must be dum to ask the question and then ignore everyones advise.

I have been building cars/bikes for over 22 years old so i think i know what i'm talking about as do many people on SN.

I have had my Impreza 8 months and in that time i have carried out many mods inc changing the ecu, i spent time reading threads and asking people's advice on here and then acting on there advise. My car has never missed a beat and runs spots.

I hope your car runs fine but don't come back bleating when/if it all goes wrong.

Andrew

£10 worth of crappy parts to artifically raise the boost and fool the fuelling.
have to say, if he was that good we would have heard of him before now.
doesnt his title give it away as well?
