Ok, i went for a short drive today, after letting the car warm up for several miles i gave it a few beans up a slip road i noticed (in addition to the normal turbo noise) a kind of rushing raspy noise similar to blowing a reed on a clarinet for example.

I hadnt driven the car for a couple of days and in between all i had done was actually tighten the intercooler pipes clips up nice and tight. This noise sounded similar to what you may expect to hear if they were loose.....

This noise happens when you hit 1 bar give or take a PSI and if you are on WOT then the knocklink begins to light up a fair bit.....would this suggest a leak somewhere? or an issue with the turbo? bearings for example?

any help appreciated!! and i will try anything suggested tomorrow evening.

hi mate,not an expert but had this with my00 type ra last week it was the turbo!(nitemare to find a replacement)i checked all the hoses and no leak had a second opinion and the said bearings had gone
