Question OEM headers AGAIN..!

Do all oem cast headers have an exhaust gas probe boss..?

Also the cross pipe looks like steel with cast flanges welded on, so how are you supposed to port the 'inlet' (ie n/s) on this..? I suppose there is room for grinding a bit of a lead/ramp into it as opposed to it being square..?

early (93ish) has boss, then no boss to MY00.. not 100% sure on newage specifics but believe they have a boss.

Yes port the connections to the gasket size etc.. or you can get an aftermarket cross pipe but not many seem to bother.

Cheers Simon, the oracle as usual..!

Who does cross pipes..? I never realised that they were available.

The problem, as I see it, is that if you take much off the cross pipe there's a risk of the cast flange breaking off. Also there's a small gap between steel pipe and flange so it doesn't look like you'll get a smooth port.

I'm off to take some pics, back soon.....

Just found this (Floyds project):

Could do with filling the gap with something like Milliput..? (obviously need to ensure it dosen't break up and fcek turbo..!)

I would do anything other than porting, it will improve ten fold the gas flow anyway.. like you say if something dislodges and goes through the turbo.. eek..

You confused me there for a second as you missed n'd of would..!

As you say the porting alone should be a vast improvement.

Seem to remember that Mark at Lateral Performance was doing aftermarket cross pipes?
Don't forget to get right into the cast sections as there are a few cast lines and bosses that stick out. Newage ones I've ported don't seem to have as many casting bosses in the way though.
I radius the flange/ pipe joins rather than go squares for the same reason you are worried about.
