Pace FMIC running Hot

Pace FMIC running Hot
HI,
I was at simpson motorsport yesterday.
Steve noticed my car was running about 10 degrees C hotter than standard.
It's a MY00 UK Classic with a Pace FMIC and radiator kit.
It's running 270Bhp.
Is there a way I can reduce the running temp without spending a fortune and cutting the bumper.
I was thinking along the lines of drilling a hole in the thermostat, i believe rally boys do this?
Any other ideas??
thanks.
Paul

The theromstat won't make the fan cut in earlier unless it runs hotter.
Zerosports so a 71degree thermostat which will help.. but the PACE intercooler / radiator is unfortunaty prone to this.

thanks for the replies,
moley, though about this have a bmw that runs a thermostat from singapore, never gets very hot.
JGM think may give this a try, is it a long term fix do you know or more of a fudge?? wouldn't want to bugger the engine, but obviously would rather not pay a fortune for new FMIC and have to cut the bumper.
cheers

have found an ARC thermostat that says it operates at 68C rising to 81C at full throttle, made for race applications.
Given that my car runs 10C hotter would this be the answer? anyone used it?

only used zerosports thermostat which works..
you are however fighting the fact that the radiator is less efficient than the standard one.. but it has to be worth a try.

can you post a link to the zerosports one?

hmmm wouldn't want to take it out totally, leaves the engine too cool and doesn't run at right temp, makes it run on cold map too long and can lead to bore wash, i.e. too much fuel washing past the pistons.

not sure on a link.. bought it through a mate.
running about 450.
Running without a thermostat is a no no.. engine will remain colder for longer in the warm up stage right when things wear more..

Water Wetter should lower it by a couple of degrees. You could also try checking the amount of antifreeze your coolant has, using less will make it run cooler. Just make sure its got enough in so it doesn't freeze up in winter.

No not running hot.. fitted a new engine last week and decided to change the stat whilst doing so and just bought the lower temp one to try and ring an extra bhp or two out of it due to cooler running..
