Brake warning light and battery warning light on
MY95 WRX Wagon.
Happened last night.
My brake warning light came on and my battery warning light came on at the same time.
Brake warning light goes brighter when hand brake is on.
Brake fluid is OK, disconnected fluid level sensor but lights still on.
Anyone any ideas before I rip my dash apart to look for a short circuit??
What is the connection between the 2 lights ?

I've checked all of the fuses, all OK.
I took each fuse out(one at a time) and the only one that killed the lights also killed all the other warning lights.
I'll have to check the alternator output, but sod's law, it's just started to thunder outside with heavy rain ( i don't have a garage, converted it to a study 3 years ago ).

Also, as I ran the engine during testing, the ABS warning light came on as well and the engine started to splutter.

i've just got the same problem, when i went out for a drive it started with just the battery and brake light, then the rest. Is the "brake booster" effected if there is a low charge and thats why u get the brake light coming on with the battery light?

I think it warns you of the danger of the ABS not working, it relies on electric pulses from your hubs.
Just a point of info, my alternator is made by Mitsubishi....
I can sum up alternator failure like this :-
Battery light on with glowing brake warning light.
Then ABS light on.
Then engine missfire followed by engine cutting out.
Then a realisation that you are well and truly powerless, your battery is then drained and nothing works any more.
I was lucky, my electrics died completely as I drove onto my property.
Would not be nice on a dark country lane in the middle of nowhere.
