yeh mate,it was the actuator.i had adjusted it to close the wastegate, but done it a little to much, but just waiting for my coils then im changing them.it still seems to be overboosting a little though, going to 1.2bar.

Sounds like it's still a bit tight then. You probably want to take off another 1 or 2 turns.
It should require a small amount of effort to drop the actuator rod back onto the wastegate spigot i.e pull it about 1mm - 2mm, in order to drop it on.

It shouldn't just fall on, likewise you should need huge amounts of effort to pull it out and drop it on.

Also you may want to check that the brass restrictor is still in the boost control return pipe. This is the very bottom hose of the 3-port solenoid, that returns to the air intake.

Take the bottom hose off the boost control solenoid and try and push a bit a thick bit of wire through it, to be sure there is no restrictor in there. Sometimes the pipe can be quite hard so squeezing it won't find it.

You may not of had problems before the mods as the Z4 fuel cut is 15.6psi, so even with the restrictor removed the boost spike may not of been high enough to trigger fuel cut.

The restrictors can be bought from Subaru Pt.No 22326AA090 (They call it an Orifice), or you can make one out of nylon or brass and just push it into the pipe.

The Subaru part is just a bit of brass with IIRC it has a 2.0mm hole drilled through it.

Hi Scott

About this brass restrictor I was once told to check mine in my 94wrx import
but never found one.
I was the first owner of my car in the uk and the car was absolutely bog standard when it came in from Japan.
many people said it had to have one but never had any running problems with the car without one.
Is it possible some import cars don’t need it????????????????????????

Tony

Imports do need them and alot come in with them removed.
It does allow very slightly more boost but not alot. It can cause boost spikes though that can lead to fuel cut especially after decatting.

Sorry to hijack-

I've got a decatted MY96 STI with a Dawes set at 0.8 bar to prevent fuel cut. Under hard acceleration in higher gears the boost creeps up and it hits fuel fut. It used to hit fuel cut a lot more without the dawes.

Is it possible that the restrictor is missing in the pipe and this is what is causing the fuel cut?

Thanks!

ive put a resister in and were it was running 1.2 bar before, its only doing 1bar now.is it possible that ive turned it down a bit to much, and should i just adjust it a bit more so as to get the 1.1 that its supposed to be with the scoobyecu
