Looking for a good polish / wax to protect from stone chips, i know i cant stop them completely, but some one mentioned armourfend ?? is this any good.

Been to Halfords all they seem to sell is every turtle wax product available including the colourmagic with chipstick.

Help and and advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Jonno.

Best way to protect against stone chips is, leave the car in the garage.

That is a bit of a have, I have tried numerous polishes etc to potentially stop stone chips as far as I am concerned it is a load of crap.

If the stone is big enough to chip your paint it WILL chip it no matter what

Thanks Submannz,
I know you cant stop this from happening but you can try and protect the paint a little bit.

"Armourfend"- Ive herd that it helps? Who sells this product? Ive had a good look round the Local Motorist Centres, but cant find it anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Jonno.

Jonno,

Most Subaru dealers offer this type of protection as an option when you buy a car from them, Lancaster Sevenoaks did on my first Scooby anyway

So your local dealer might be a good place to start.

Potato chips are a much better idea. They taste better and they dont crack your teeth in half.

Other option is to ring this guy Mark on 07850 644093 and tell him Blowdog recommended you. It is like armourfend only thicker and cheaper.

Thumbs down

I think my car's been painted with red air the stuff's so thin....

The alternative to Armourfend (£50 per sq cm - ish) is stuff called Invincashield. It's the same as Armourfend, is made by 3M and costs relatively **** all (about £170 for the whole front of the car)
http://www.invincashield.co.uk/index_euro.htm

I'm awaiting a warranty decision on my front bumper before I go out and get this stuff done. The paint is falling off my front bumper and there is no undercoat underneath it....

So far I've been told that a) the paint warranty is 12 months b) my car is 13 months old and c) tough *******.
Don't cha just luv 'em?
