Are you seeing a CEL lamp?
Try carrying out the ECU reset procedure shown HERE then take it for a drive and see if the spluttering is still there

Cheers

i read on ere that the maf or boost sol. could cause these problems, when idoling and i unplug maf it still runs as normal but when i put it back in it splutters a little but then ok idols normally, could this be it? or maybe standard fuel pump not pumping enough through ?

Unplugging the MAF and still running doesn't sound right.
MAF and Lambda have a tendancy not to give a CEL.

If you had a similar problem with the Z4 then I expect the fault is not with either ECU or chip.

If the chip is one of my old ones it runs a Z4 base map so should behave in a similar fashion.

You could disconnect the lambda and go for a short drive to see if the splutter becomes more apparent.
Without the lambda you are relying soley on the MAF for fuelling.

I really don't think this is a fuel issue....
If it's not MAF then probably coil packs/plugs.
Coil packs are prone to fail and even crack/fall apart at the tip, under the rubber grommet that pushes onto the plugs.
The causes a weak spark which gets blown out by the boost.

If it was doing this on the standard Z4 it will do it even more with the remapped chip running 16psi.

ive just diconnected the lambda and its still same,is it worth changing the maf and lambda, also got a crack in one of coil packs,is it worth changing the pack and plugs first,or maf aswel seeing as it still runs when unplugged.do you know any site i can order these parts off if needed.

If a coil pack is cracked, this may well be the cause. If not then it won't be helping matters
Coil packs should really be replaced, new, in sets (about £50 each). If one is cracked the rest are likley to be on their way out.
For a MAF try www.japperformanceparts.co.uk or www.gradea-subaru.co.uk/

On the otherhand when I had poor running problems with my 95WRX, I also changed the coil packs (240 quid), but it didn't fix the problem.

Therefore maybe eddy would also like to buy some cheap coil packs from me? Nought wrong with them. 80 quid the lot.

Hmm, what else can I sell him.....

What condition are your seats in eddy? Suspension? Er, brakes. How about a Scoobyclinic backbox? Magnex mid-pipe? My loft is full of Scooby bits. It's a wonder the whole lot hasn't come through the celing yet!

But were they cracked.
I had a guy with a wagon chasing a fault..I kept pointing him towards plugs and coils but he was adamant they were fine.

"plugs have just been changed and gapped, he kept saying"

Finally he got round to looking at the coils properly i.e remove the rubber hats. Emailed me a nice piccie of a cracked/cumbling coil pack tip.

"Could this be the problem", he sasked....
He changed them and all was fine and dandy......

Nope, it should all be sorted by the chip.
the only time the actuator needs adjustng, is if it has gone a bit soft. This will be shown up by it not acievingthe target boost in the map.

The only thing a weak actuator can do is cause the boost to be a little low or not hold.

I just changed the plugs on mine to PFR7B, which are slightly colder than the standard PFR6B plugs. Which should eddy use with the Scoobyecu (assumming he's using NGK)?

6B's or 7B's would be fine.
Although I would advise the 7's if new ones are required.

You'll need someone else to comment here, but when I was shopping for a new MAF for my Type R, I found a UK car MAF going cheap. I was told that WRX and STi MAFs were different.

Erm, I do have a MAF available (the one I changed turned out to be fine, and indeed looked practically new. A waste of 230 quid.

I'm skeptical it would be okay for your car. If you send me the numbers written on your MAF unit I'll check. I'm not going to sell it cheaply though because it's worth good money to me. Might save you 100 quid though.
