It's a '93 Import. Has STi on the logbook and has all the kit and waterspray, etc. Hasn't got a red-top though. This mean it's a WRX??

Cheers

Default Engine

Hi,

All Sti's do not have Red tops.
The way to tell a Sti is a 5th injector smack in the middle of the
inlet manifold pointing down into it (steel pipe)

Also looking at the front of the engine between the power steering
pump and the alternator you should see like a 1" square grid of
squares - like maths paper or like a 8 x 8 noughts and crosses
grid.
Thats a STi engine.

Then I'd reccomend Grade A subaru - type it in Google.
I bought a STi engine from them £1000 + Vat
Fired 1st time after I fitted it.

Thanks for that mate. Learn something new every day on here!
Gonna be all clued up soon

Have just checked and it seems it's an STi engine then.

Apolgies for butting in on this thread, but I have the 1" square grid of squares, as you describe, on my block ('93wrx). Does this mean I have an STI bottom end?? The rest of my engine is wrx, no 5th injector etc. So are you sure what you describe indicates an STI block?

Robin.

Acey give Andy a call a Scoobyteknix on 07788128845 and tell him Kristian gave you his number. His pricing is excellent and he will fit it for you if required. He's based in Fleetwood and can also ship parts at a very good price.

Get in touch with www.scoobybits.co.uk they may well have one in stock and won't pull your pants down on price.

Cross hatching marks dictate closed or open deck block if hatching marks present then it is a closed deck block , sti and early wrx both have closed deck blocks . later models was only sti .Do a search on cross hatching marks or open closed blocks.
