Do I have the correct ecu in my STi5?
Sorry dont have the ecu code to hand as car is off having an engine build, and I have tried searching but cant find the answer.
Basically on my jdm 1999 STi I remember having a look for the ecu to see where it was (was bored!), the sticker on the top said something like A800000xxx (cant exectly remember), that got me thinking as I thought it was only the uk models that have the A8xx ecu's?? There is an electronic speed de-limiter box thats plugged into the ecu aswell, to make me more confused my STi does/or did rev limits at 8250rpm, if for some strange reason I had a UK model ecu in would it only let the car rev limit at 7000prm?? Also it looks like there is a spare space for another plug into the ecu, but nothings plugged iinto it?
BHP wise I had in on the rollers way before it went pop and with a full de-cat it pushed 290bhp which sounds approx normal.
Does anyone know the ecu code for an STi5?

Thats the thing, I cant remember the code, all I can say is I think it begain with Axxxx
Having just had a search on sidc I found this pic, which is apparently a STi5 ecu and does look familiar...(sorry for the size I dont know how to re-size it)
Am I right in thinking if I did have a UK ecu it would only let my car limit at 7000rpm? (or whatever the UK models limit at)

After reading into this abit more the sti ecu's and equivilant UK ecu's aren't plug and play with each other, also if it was a UK ecu it would hit the rev limiter at whatever a UK one does, so im assuming its the correct STi brain in there , was probably being paranoid after reading someone elses thread on SN......I'll double check though when I do get the car back

As far as I know, a UK ECU will not fire up a Jap scoob and vice vera. There are DIP switched inside that need to be changed which I think are to do with the crank sensor.
I know this becuase my mapper has a STiV with a AE802 ECU (UK MY00) but jap map loaded on it. He put in mine (had and ECU fault so we were checking all possibilites) and loaded my map but it woulnt fire until he changed over this switch inside, upon which it was fine!
Nezz.
